Picture this: New York City. March. 2020. The entirety of the city is freshly shut down due to Covid restrictions now in full effect. All your plans of work, social obligations, future travel…all put on hold. It is at this time that both Mitch and Michael found themselves home bound with plenty of time on their hands and nothing to pull them out of their neighborhoods. Michael and Mitch had previously connected over social media prior to this, but had not made any firm plans to meet due to the active lives they both have lead up until this point. Through taking time to reconnect and have further conversation online, the pair discovered that they lived mere walking blocks from each other. So since there is not much else going on as of now, why not meet up to say hello to pass the time? Gathering all his courage, Michael made the suggestion that Mitch come to his place for a meet and greet, and to his great satisfaction, Mitch said yes. One meeting lead to two, then three, then four … with each “goodbye” slowly turning into a “see you later” despite an uncertain future of what life would be like when the world opened back up again. Defying the odds of an ever-changing world landscape as life slowly started to return to a new normal, Mitch and Michael remained connected. On Halloween 2020, Mitch and Michael made their first Halloween costume midtown Manhattan debut as a couple as Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar. A short while later, on the New Year’s Eve before the kick off of 2021, Mitch and Michael made the choice to become committed partners. Fast forward 3 years of hiking trips, bike rides, birthday full-apartment take-overs, halloween costumes, Christmas display installations, 2 cars, 6 work assignments, endless greeting cards and countless unforgettable moments later, Mitchell proposed to Michael on their New Year’s Eve anniversary in 2024, and to his great satisfaction, Michael said yes. Now, after being engaged for the better part of two years, Mitch and Michael are ready to embark on the next exciting chapter of their lives together and say “I do” in front of all their loved ones who have been part of their story since the start.
